1923 - 1997

1923 Born in New York, New York

1940 Studies at Art Student's League, New York (summer); enters Ohio State University, Columbus

1943-46 Serves in the U.S. Army in Europe

1946 Returns to Ohio State University; receives B.F.A.

1949 Receives M.F.A. from Ohio State University, continues as instructor until 1951

1951-57 Works on various free-lance design jobs in Cleveland while painting

1957-60 Teaches at New York State College of Education, Oswego, New York

1960-63 Teaches at Douglass College, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey

1964 Moves to New York City; resigns from Rutgers to devote full time to painting

1979 Elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters

1997 Dies September 29, New York
